This vase is wheel thrown, burnished/hand rubbed with Terra Sigillata (a fine particles slip) till it creates a shiny luster, then fired in a gas kiln to Earthenware temperature inside an individual saggar or heat-proof container. Inside the sagger I place various combustable materials (sawdust, copper wire, salt...) around the piece so that it will fume on the surface of the piece. Due to this unique technique it is impossible to obtain the same result twice.

Each piece is more porous than high-fired stoneware. For this reason, Saggar fired pottery is produced for your visual and tactile delight. Enjoy!
